Medical Micro Skin Needling for Scar Treatment
What scars can be treated with skin needling?
- Acne Scars
- Chicken Pox Scars
- Surgical scars including cosmetic procedure scars
- Traumatic scars from injuries
- Skin Graft borders
- Fibrous burn & scald scars
How does skin needling improve facial scars?
The process of skin needling induces collagen production which creates progressive repair and support under depressed scars including acne & chicken pox scars.
A series of treatments is required, and results are generally seen after about 6 weeks, though the new collagen production continues for 12 months after the last treatment.
- Please note this treatment is not suitable where acne is still active – we can advise on alternative treatments such as skin peels and skincare until the acne has resolved
- All patients will show some improvement, however, how much varies on individual response
- Some people will achieve a 75-90% improvement in the appearance of scars 12months post treatment
- Skin Needling is safe on Asian and dark skin types.
FAQs
- Skin Needling scars: how many treatments are required? Scar treatment may involve up to 6 treatments spaced monthly to two monthly (depending upon severity). However after the first treatment you will notice an improvement in the quality of the skin.
- Skin needling improves scar appearance by stimulating your skin to produce collagen. The medical roller creates multiple pin point wounds to the skin (which quickly seal & heal), stimulating release of growth factors and laying down new collagen.
- Skin needling increases the thickness and health of skin. Treatment of facial scars with laser results in thinner skin, which means it is not safe to repeat laser treatments. Needling is safe even on delicate areas around lips and eye lids.
Needling scar treatment vs laser scar treatment.
